Each year lobbyists and special interests spend billions of dollars controlling legislators and setting public policy. Democracy is jeopardized when the voice of the people take a back seat to corporate influence.
Our Founders knew all too well what happens to democracy at the hands of an out of control government. Term limits are the missing component to a fully empowered populace and a healthy federal government that serves the citizenry.
There are only two ways to add an amendment to the US Constitution:
Two-thirds of both houses of Congress can propose and ratify an amendment to the Constitution. Given their penchant for perks and campaign contributions, this will never happen.
Three-fourths of the state legislatures must approve them, or ratifying conventions in three-fourths of the states must approve them. This is the only way to bring about term limits.
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution.
